Writer, Producer, Director

Robert Thatcher is a writer-producer-director with a unique one of a kind entertainment marketing background. His ability to produce quality programming, on a large scale, with minimal budgeting is his creative hallmark.

After graduating from the prestigious USC Film School, Robert began his career at Eisaman, Johns and Laws, a Los Angeles based advertising agency, producing radio and television commercials for Chevrolet and Cadillac dealer groups throughout the country. He also produced hundreds of commercials for the super market giant Alpha Beta/Acme markets. In 1983 he moved from E, J & L to Foote, Cone and Belding, where he produced Mazda automobile commercials.

When the entertainment industry called, Robert answered by joining NBC's network on-air-promotion department as a writer/producer. During his tenure at NBC, he wrote and produced television spots for the prestigious mini-series Marco Polo, along with the successful launches of The Cosby Show, Highway To Heaven, Miami Vice and Hunter.

From NBC he joined Telepictures Corporation where he wrote, produced and supervised the production of on-air-promos and sales presentation tapes for shows including Love Connection and The People's Court. After Lorimar merged with Telepictures, Robert became Vice President of On-Air-Promotion and was responsible for the production of all on-air promotion for the new company including the television marketing campaigns for such popular shows as Dallas, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest, and Thundercats. He later moved to Davis-Glick Productions where he wrote, directed and produced promos and presentations for Twentieth Century Fox, Lorimar, Universal Pictures and PBS.

From 1988 to 1992, Robert was a partner of the Garofolo & Thatcher Company, a broadcast marketing and production company. In that capacity, he developed publicity and advertising campaigns for clients including Warner Brothers., Twentieth Century Fox, Buena Vista Television, MCA Television, Orion Home Video, ITC Entertainment and Western International Syndication.

Today, Robert writes, directs and produces a variety of television programming and web content. Currently, he produces Motor Trend Television for the Speedvision Cable Network. In addition he produces successful cutting edge direct response programming. In the last six years, these programs have achieved a dramatic consistency of success. Some of his direct response programs have been ranked on the chart of the top infomercial performers for an astounding 100 consecutive weeks, generating more than $400 million television and retail sales.

Along with creating successful cable television, Internet content, direct response television, Robert also actively produces a diverse collection of television programming including documentaries, home videos, video presentations and electronic press kits for various clients including Warner Bros. Studios, Touchstone Pictures, Ford, Jaguar, Unelko and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
